TY Danjuma has said the truth – Governor Wike speaks on call for self defence in Nigeria

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike on Monday, March 26, said he agreed with former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus
Danjuma (retd.) recent calls for Nigerians to pick up arms in self defence against killer herdsmen and bandits.
Danjuma, while speaking at the maiden convocation of the Taraba State University, said the Nigerian Army is biased in
defending the masses and urged Nigerians to take up self defence.
Punch reports that Wike said Danjuma’s call for self defence is the right thing and added that he would begin a fasting and
prayer session for the former minister of defence.
The governor made this statement at the Government House, Port Harcourt, while swearing in four judges of the state high
court and the Customary Court of Appeal.
He said: “Nigeria has got to a point that we don’t know where we are heading. I don’t fast, but I will fast and pray to God to
keep General Danjuma. General Theophilus Danjuma has said the truth. It is happening daily in Rivers State.
“We are setting up our Neighbourhood Safety Corps, but they are generating crisis. We only replicated what is in existence in
Lagos State, but nobody queries that of Lagos State. Only recently, Nasarawa state launched her outfit, without being

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, March 25, reacted to the call by former minister
of defence, Lt. Gen.Theophilus Danjuma(retd.), for Taraba state indigenes and Nigerians as a whole to take up arms and defend
themselves against herdsmen attacks.
The PDP, in a statement signed by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Danjuma’s statement had justified its
stand that the Buhari presidency and the APC must be held responsible for the agonising state of the nation.
